In the heart of Sioux Country on the banks of the Missouri River
is one of South Dakota's most interesting places to visit. The Akta
Lakota Museum and Cultural Center is a tribute to the Sioux Nation,
striving to preserve and promote Sioux culture, past and
present.
The museum is located on the beautiful campus of St. Joseph's
Indian School, a privately funded residential/educational facility
for Native American youth.

Fischers Lily Park lies at the confluence of the Bad River and the Missouri River in a site replete with historic and recreational value. At this location, the Corps of Discovery, led by Lewis and Clark, met with the leaders of the Teton Lakota Nation. Misunderstandings led to an armed confrontation, one of the only confrontations on their voyage. Today, the park offers camping and RV amenities.
